STEPHEN T. BUSBY, DDS

Stephen T. Busby, DDS has maintained a very successful and high quality General Dentistry Practice in Short Hills, New Jersey for nearly 30 years. He sees patients of all ages and renders care in all areas of general dentistry. Dr. Busby has developed close referral relationship with many of the area’s leading specialists which allows him to handle the most complex of dental needs. Dr. Busby has been licensed by the states of New Jersey, Massachusetts, and North Carolina, for the practice of General Dentistry and has maintained continuous membership in the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, and the Essex County Dental Association. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), which requires substantial annual continuing education in excess of state license requirements. He was awarded the highly regarded status as an AGD Fellow (FAGD) in 1996. Dr Busby has also been recognized by New Jersey Monthly Magazine as one of “The Top Dentists”; in 2005, and again in 2010.

Dr. Busby is an Attending Doctor of Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ where he teaches in their General Practice Dental Residency Program. He has been recognized with the Residents’ House Teaching Award for his work assisting and critiquing dental residents in clinical care. Dr. Busby also participates monthly with Overlook Dental Department meetings and has served on the Dental Department Board. “Teaching at the hospital and the AGD continuing education keeps me abreast of the newest and latest in Dentistry. Stephen Busby was raised in Milwaukee, WI and Bowling Green, KY. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with a BA in Chemistry. Steve then attended the University of North Carolina, School of Dentistry, graduating with the Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1981. He was the Senior Class President and was awarded several Senior Faculty Awards upon graduation. These included The Department of Operative Dentistry Award, The Department of Dental Ecology Award, and the Dwight Clark Memorial Award for outstanding student.

The following year (1982), Dr Busby completed a one year, General Practice Residency at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston, MA. He joined the Tufts Residency Faculty on a part-time basis while also working full-time for The Carpenter’s Union of New England in Quincy, MA.

In 1983, he and his wife, Marianne Muench, moved to her hometown of Short Hills, NJ and they opened their home office practice. Steve and Marianne have raised three daughters in this home and within the Millburn School system. Lauren lives and works as a seismic structural engineer for Thornton Tomasetti in San Francisco. In Miami, daughter Coleen has a career in media advertising. Christine, a senior at Providence College in Rhode Island, recently returned from a semester studying abroad in Prague. Despite the miles separating them, the Busbys continue to visit each other frequently; and a few times a year all come together for the Busby family’s favorite activity – traveling!

Outside of the office, Steve is always active with squash, tennis, paddle, gardening, bicycling, and skiing. Alternatively, he has become quite an aficionado of the more soothing sport of sailing! In the office one sees a myriad of photos from Steve’s sailing sojourns as testimony to his love of spending time on the water.
